I was stopped in my tracks when I saw this post of Joy's over at Oh Joy! blog... Apparently, Marimekko's Autumn/Winter 08/09 line is out, and, well, the clothes are just stunning.

Three designers make up the collection :: Mika Piirainen, Ritva Falla and Samu-Jussi Koski... I'm definitely a fan of the latter. Koski's bold patterns & vivid color palettes are quite mesmerizing, and his approach to designing is really inspiring:
"Samu-Jussi Koski continues to dedicate his collection to the Mari girl of the 21st century, an independent and spontaneous urban woman who adores nature in all its diversity and who is surrounded by an aura of vitality."

i love the bold piece combined with basic black. this is how i'm starting to approach my wardrobe. . .investing in good basics and saving for a bold splurges every once in awhile.
