need a little (pretty) motivation?

Here they are: OrangeBeautiful's line of 4-color MOTIVATE prints!

We've printed up 4 motivational messages (that have just a touch of crassness) to inspire you (or someone you'd like to encourage) in an office, studio or home.

Stop messing around and get moving! What are you waiting for?!

Get On With It Already print in burgundy, rose red & metallic lavender inks w/ gray text.

Quit Your Belly-Aching print in lime green, mustard, metallic champagne inks w/ gray text.

Do Something About It print in deep purple, periwinkle & metallic light blue/green inks w/ gray text.

Get Your Sh*t Together print in gold, marigold & coral inks w/ gray text.

All of the prints were printed by hand (in a limited edition of 100 each) on our large-format GOCCO printer. They're 8x10" in size (so, easy-as-pie to frame) - and they're available on our Etsy shop for $12/each or all four for $40!

Thanks for the explanation of the printing process for these! That helps immensely. I've got a bunch of ideas for my first Gocco print and was feeling overwhelmed with where to start!  :)

Love them!! They all apply to my overly-obsessive husband, but I think he would be offended if he knew I said that. :)

I think I need the red one by my desk... have to decide whether it should be in my field of vision, as a direct reminder, or over my shoulder, always watching... judging...

I'm from the Monterey area so I love seeing pictures of Cypress Golf Course...but the motivational ones are everywhere. Takes some of the lustre off the image.

I like the new twist, brilliant!

sarah :: I'm always happy to help with GOCCO advice when I can... so here goes:

All four designs were actually with a total of 6 screens. Each had a screen made with the message (blocked out* & printed in gray ink) alongside one set of the stripes (in varying colors) - then for each run with the additional 2 stripes, we simply cleaned off the screen and put a new color of ink on...

Keep in mind, screens wear out pretty quickly... they're only cardboard, after all - so too much cleaner or moisture is no good. You kind of get used to the pain of tossing a screen once a run of prints is complete. It's better to just start fresh with a new screen later, even when re-printing the same design.

*blocking is definitely key - it's this great gray foam sheeting that comes in flat pieces w/ adhesive on one side... you cut it down into 1/8" stripes to stick around your artwork to "reign in" your ink... mostly, it's to allow you to print more than one...

Oh, those are awesome! My favorite is the blue -- both color and phrase.

I've got to ask a Gocco question though. I just bought the PG-5 and am so excited about using it. But I'm curious about your technique to make these. In order to do multiple colors that overlap, does it require multiple screens? Or just multiple passes with the same screen?

I seriously need to find an "advanced" Gocco tutorial...
