when you own your own business, there are...
SMS: No Days Off print, 22.5x34", $30.00 by MVA
Ain't that the truth?... I know that many of you who read this blog are in the same boat with me. You started your own business and you love it. I mean really love it - like in a way that people who work for someone else just can't ever really truly understand.
But with that love comes stress, anxiety, and long hours... usually, to the point where there really isn't a time during your day where you're not thinking about work.
When people ask me if it's stressful to own my own business, I pretty much always reply with something about how "yes, it's definitely stressful, but it's a stress that I wouldn't trade for anything"...

So, as I'm in need of a little empathy at the moment, I'm really loving these Supreme Mathematics Series prints by The Midwest Visual Agency... especially, the no days off design ;)

I am DEFINITELY feeling this post! I feel like I say this at least 4 times a day. But I LOOOVE it! There IS no greater personal satisfaction as far as "work" is concerned. And although it's totally stressful, it's an awesome stress. It's one I can sleep well with at night.
Strangely, I came to this post via Graham Smith, a British designer I follow on twitter . . . and not directly through the you whom I know in real life. I guess you're famous.
elizabeth :: I know... it's so difficult to come up with unique ideas when it's so easy now to have everyone's else ideas accessible to you at the click of a button. It's great for inspiration, but it's also a struggle to not get overwhelmed by outside influences...
we have cocktails on our boat, right?
100% in agreement. 24/7 constantly trying to come up with fresh new ideas. Glad to hear there is a boat and there are others on board : )
julie! :: best of luck with getting that space...
and glad to have you on board my busy boat ;)
I'm *totally* in the boat - and we just got a great lead on a storefront space, so now we're scrambling to apply (it's in a subsidized artists' community, so the opening is competitive) and coming to terms with *having* to work weekends. We work weekends now anyway because there's so much to do, but it's the principle of the thing! :)
