I've long admired the work of interior-and-graphic designer Angie Hranowsky; she has a tremendous eye for color, pattern and composition.
These new images from her interiors portfolio's "Pitt Street" project highlight another of Hranowsky's talents: the skilled integration of art within interior spaces.
In each of the images, I notice equally the art and the elements surrounding it. It's such a complementary relationship that it's hard to know whether the art inspired the room, or vice versa.
Other delicious elements: the floor-to-ceiling black drapes, the pops of blue and the patterned chair. (A digression on patterned chairs: did anyone else sigh audibly over Betty Draper's new pair of black-and-white-cane chairs in Sunday's Mad Men? And did anyone else die when she put the fainting chaise in that room? I actually agreed with the stodgy decorator.)

I have a crush on most everything in Brooklyn-based designer Jean Pelle's shop on Etsy. The amazing glass bubble chandelier, now in sold in several sizes; those adorable and oft-blogged "faceted" wood candleholders (I would love an assortment of the pure gold and white gold versions mixed together).
Now I find these lovely glass ball earrings, which combine Jean Pelle signature elements that so appeal to me: glass orbs plus a gilded finish.
So simple, chic, wearable, delicate, and less than $40.

tara hogan | share, plywerk panel, 5x5" $40.00 and 8x8" $60.00, from fawn&forest.
I just love these designer PLYWERK panels that are available at fawn&forest right now. There are 7 featured artists & designers, including some of my favorites (i.e. Tara Hogan of Ink & Wit, who designed the Share piece above), as well as new finds (like Jayme McGowan, 3rd image, and Justin Richel, last image).
lisa golightly | all the little ponies, plywerk panel, 5x5" $40.00 and 8x8" $60.00, from fawn&forest.
jayme mcgowan | plan gone awry, plywerk panel, 5x5" $40.00, from fawn&forest.
pattern people | under the leaves, plywerk panel, available in (3) finishes (color shown), 8x8" $60.00, from fawn&forest.
justin richel | globe, plywerk panel, 5x5" $40.00 and 8x8" $60.00, from fawn&forest.
I really, really love that last one... and well, all of the plywerk panels by Justin Richel. The globe design, above, just makes me think of the video game Katamari Damacy (which I love), and, I, weirdly, seem to have a thing for artwork that features stacks of things (like my all-time favorite piece by Chicago artist, Dolan Geiman.

Stash Style recently added more beautiful vintage party decor accessories to their shop. I think the scalloped trim, shown here, could be applied strikingly on some window treatments or tailored canopy bedding, a la David Hicks or Jonathan Adler (see an amazing, DIY-window pelmet box tutorial here for inspiration).
The trim is 12 inches high, so would make a major impact in any application. And at $35 for five yards, and available in 13 colors, I think it's a steal.

Buoyant Bib Necklace (left), $38.00 and Windflower Necklace (right), $38.00; both from Anthropologie.
I'm really loving these "statement" necklaces over at Anthropologie right now... and while there are way too many that have pretty ridiculous price tags, I've found that my favorites are all under $50!
Bubble Gum Necklace (left), $28.00 and Notions Necklace (right), $48.00; both from Anthropologie.
Sweet Petunia Necklace (left), $48.00 and Orchestral Necklace (right), $48.00; both from Anthropologie.

This hand-embroidered series by Rose and June makes me happy.
Artist Lyndsey Baldwin stitches renderings of her old family photographs into paper, creating pieces that not only have personal meaning to her, but evoke shared memories of past celebrations and experiences on a broader scale. Sixth Birthday, shown at the top of the post, takes me right back to my family's kitchen in 1985. (I think I got a Cabbage Patch Preemie!)

Desk Tidy Organizers, $18.00/each, in Olive Green (left) and Teal Blue from 26 Olive Street.
I love all of the different (and colorful!) desk organizers they have in the shop right now... especially the Retro Plastic Desk Caddy Organizer shown in the first photo above... when I was little, I remember my mom having a brown one just like it on her desk.

Normally, U.S. postage stamps are just plain unattractive. Nine times out of ten, it's a slighty-disturbing portrait commemorating someone famous, or a serene (but still pretty generic) landscape... and sometimes, even worse, it's this (trust me, those are real).
But every so often (as in the case of these beauties) some really exceptional designs come along... and, I have to admit, Thanksgiving was the last occasion I thought would inspire such a beautiful set of illustrations.
Get 'em while you can... I have a feeling that these are gonna go fast!

Needless to say, the answer to the question Where'd My Money Go? is answered with one word: "Renegade". There were so many booths that I wanted to visit, but only could make to a few. Ugh... basically, the only drawback to an overall awesome show :: not enough time to shop!
One booth that I made a special point to visit was that of Brooklyn-based paper-delicious-ness, enormouschampion - ever since seeing them at NSS in '08, I've been a great admirer of their brilliant illustrations, excellent type design, and well, lots and lots of letterpress!
I got to meet Jordan (above), one half of the 2-person team behind ec, and I walked away with some great cards, an amazing bunny/houndstooth notebook (my favorite), and this amazing 3-color letterpress print. The one thing I didn't pick up, but am still thinking about, is a Squirrely Love set. Love it.
Again, if you couldn't make it to the ec booth at Renegade, you can check out their goods any time, on their Etsy shop!

I'd like to introduce you to Lenny. I just bought him from Etsy seller, Lauren Alane after a mad dash to the finish line against other buyers scrambling to have a little needle-felted bird of their very own.
Lauren's tiny winged creations are in such demand that, if you want one, you really need to sign up for shop updates just to know the exact moment that new birds are available.
I can't wait for my little Lenny to arrive!

A batch of Motivate cards were made especially for Renegade this past weekend and they were such a huge hit that I've made more and posted them on the Etsy shop!
These folded notes cards are 4.25 x 5.5" in size, blank on the inside and come with grey envelopes. The 4pk listing includes your choice of which cards you'd like, but I recommend getting one of each!
Keep in mind that these are made from remnant Motivate Prints, so they won't last long!

I don't usually buy Vogue - I sit down with a cup of coffee and read it at the library. But the October issue is another story - these images of Michelle Williams are so compelling that I will have no choice but to pick it up.
I can't get over the color on the cover image. It's so gorgeous - a perfect palette of shades and pattern, set off strikingly by Michelle's platinum pixie cut. The vibe is sort of a modern-day Edie Sedgwick and will provide me with plenty of inspiration for my fall wardrobe. I particularly like the jacket-and-striped tee combo shown above - hers looks like Chanel (anybody know what it actually is?) but I think this, this or even this option might work for me.

One of the biggest treats for me at Renegade this year was visiting the booth of fellow Chicago company, essimar and meeting the lovely artist behind it all, Esther Ramirez. Seeing all of her amazing work all in one place was incredible.
I mean, seriously, look at all this loveliness ::
I walked away with a stack of beautiful things: notecards, gift tags, a limited edition letterpress print (!), a sweet Mochi print* and a ton of inspiration...
If you missed essimar at the show, no worries: browse her Etsy shop, right here - and her delicious blog, here.

The first time I saw a geode, I was probably about eight years old. My mom first showed me the exterior of the stone, which was rough, gray and nondescript. Then she flipped it over, and I was in awe of the smoothness, the marbled colors, and the sparkly crystals. I've been hooked on geodes and agate slices ever since. On this amazing bracelet, the closure is actually the main feature: a hand-wired toggle and real agate slice (that makes each piece one-of-a-kind).
I also love these earrings that look like the center of a geode...

Renegade was a huge success! Thanks SO much to everyone who visited the booth, and to all of you who took home something OrangeBeautiful of their very own!
The weather was absolutely perfect, and the crowd was constant both days... even better than running the booth, was visiting (and buying from!) other vendors at the show. It's always a double-edged sword with amazing shows like this - as a vendor, you want to get your product out their and make money, but then, as a lover-of-awesome-things, you want to buy, buy, buy!
More on what I bought throughout the week - including the booths & products of SCOOP favorites, essimar, Squasht by Les, enormous champion and many more!
Now I'm off to get a bit of rest!

Jenny of Little Green Notebook recently made over the room her two daughters share, and it is completely striking (see all the images, including before-and-after shots, here and here). Amazingly, she did it on a budget of almost nothing - "shopping" her own collections for furnishings and accessories, changing the look with paint or fabric to suit the new palette. Most of the room's accents, including the art, were DIY and inspired by the depictions and colors of the Chiang Mai Dragon fabric used to re-cover the headboards.
If you aren't already familiar with Jenny's blog/decorating business (Pearl Street Interiors), be prepared to become addicted. She is full of talent and drive, and lucky for us, she is willing to spill all of her sources and secrets for making a lovelier home.

You can "design" your own hand-lettered greeting cards with 6 sayings of your choice, in any combination (i.e., 3 each of two sayings; 6 different sayings; 3 greetings and 3 personalized; etc.).

The past weekend I spent in NYC with three of my four best friends from high school. Though it wasn't a shop-till-you-drop type weekend (we had too much catching up to do for that), we did visit some boutiques that I'd wanted to see in person. One such was Pasanella & Son, a wine shop and enoteca located near the Seaport. (Check out its fabulous business card - printed on cork, backed with a magnet - perched atop a gorgeous little notebook I picked up at John Derian.)
For me, touring Pasanella & Son represented slightly more than browsing for luxury consummables, because the store is owned by designer Marco Pasanella and his wife, Rebecca Robertson Pasanella - who happens to be Deputy Decorating Editor at Martha Stewart Living (and former Senior Home Editor at Blueprint).
Among the gorgous array of wines (more on that below) were fixtures that seemed rather familiar. On second glance, my friend Lindsay helpfully pointed out that the emerald-and-yellow wingchair (above) appeared in a recent issue of Living. And I realized the amazing bench beneath a grid of displayed bottles was the same bench from my favorite oft-referenced Blueprint cover.
Be sure to check out They'll Drink to That, a guide to throwing a wine-tasting dinner that was shot in the space (and appeared in Blueprint Fall 2006), as well as Lofty Ambition, a tour of the Pasanella's renovated living space above the shop.
My adorable friends, leaving the store with our purchases, excited to...drink them.
On the shop's website is a fun-to-browse section called "As Good As They Look", devoted to beautiful bottles. Here are my picks based on display-worthiness, clockwise from top left: Blume Marillen Apricot Eau-de-Vie; Vinos de Terrunos Siete 7 2008 (I bought this); Descendientes de Jose Palacios Petalos 2006; Bols Genever Holland Gin; Corzo Tequila Reposado; Merieau Bulles Cremant de Loire 2006; St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur (this is delicious - highly recommend).
